Spain in the height of summer 1978: Experienced truck driver Miguel Mendes fills his tanker with highly explosive propylene gas. But today he is distracted by his son Mauricio. Unnoticed, he overloads the tank of his truck. He is looking forward to the next day. Together with Mauricio, he wants to head south to deliver the cargo. The overloaded truck becomes a ticking time bomb! Meanwhile, hundreds of sun-seeking vacationers, mostly Germans, are bustling about the Spanish campground, for whom a summer vacation on the Spanish coast is the highlight of the year.
This moving drama is based on the true events of the 1978 fire disaster, when a truck carrying liquid gas exploded right next to a campsite, causing an inferno to break out within seconds and killing several hundred people. At the end of the 1970s, the fates of various German vacationers intersect at a Spanish campsite. They want to enjoy the best time of the year there, unaware that shortly afterwards a catastrophe will befall them that will change their lives forever.
