In 2021, the Ayoloco glacier on the Iztaccíhuatl volcano was officially declared extinct. Up in the mountains, the Women of the Assembly of United Peoples of the Cholulteca Region and the Volcanoes walk, redefining their relationship with the origin of the volcano. The struggle to defend water in the face of extractivism by transnational corporations and the connection to the territory make the walk a symbol of resistance and dignity for life.
